I bought Sonic the Hedgehog on Live Arcade yesterday for 400 points and found myself wondering what it’d cost on the Wii’s Virtual Console…
I believe that I’m known to have complained about the prices on the Virtual Console in the past and I thought that I’d follow up on those complaints with this spartan illustration. I believe that it speaks for itself.
The 360 sure has it’s share of problems and Microsoft likes to micro-transaction us to death, but the Virtual Console pricing strategy is INSANE. I mean, I like to buy stuff that may be a bit too expensive, but this, this is just unbelievable. Would you buy what, for all intents and purposes, is a rom for €8 (73 SEK)?

OMG! I always considered the VC prices to be a bit over the top, but I never thought it would be this bad! The scales are tipping over more and more towards the 360. Allthough, I’ve recently begun to play Twilight Princess which is fantastic. But according to rumors it’s as good (if not even better) to the GC. Any opinion on that subject? =)

Just to make it clear: My intention isn’t to get you to buy a 360, but to question Nintendo’s general pricing strategy. I’m STRONGLY opposed to the notion of buying a rom for €8, but the problem surfaces in a lot of other areas as well, for example the package (Wii Play) with bundled “games” with the Wii Remote, you have to remember that this was/is the only way to get a hold of an extra controller for the Wii in many areas. Nintendo is pulling a fast one, and I’m CONVINCED that 5 years from now people will write about how much money Nintendo made and that they employed a very smart marketing strategy and was generally very business savvy in our present day.

I never thought you had the intention to convince me to buy a 360. =) But the general fact is that Wii doesn’t appeal to me as a hardcore gamer. For casual gamers it’s pretty much, undoubtably the best choice. And until Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy proves themselves to be worthy challenges for me, then I’m rooting for the 360 as my first choice. But then again, if MGS4 truly will be PS3 exclusive then I’ve gotten myself into a bit of trouble…
