First, the rants!

I recently got a öh, praktikanställning at a steel workshop, which sucks, because I get 22 crowns an hour after taxes. But if I manage to impress the fat little runt and the old lady running things I’ll be harvesting 16 grand a month, which is nice. However, the job has some downsides..

1. Anti-board game tasks

I like playing a good board game, Avalon Hill and Fasa-style ones that is.. but today, I’ve cut about 1000 metal squares into hexes.. if I see another hex, I’ll go postal. Which sucks, because I like playing Battletech, which is hex-based.

2. The radio

They’ve got a radio, that’s usually turned on… and it pisses me off! If I hear another word about “Lundakalaset 2007″ or those digustingly annoying crap commercials about Zoo-stugan and Bilradiohörnan and son I’m going to.. you guessed it.. Go postal!

Well..that was it.

SWG

So, SOE is still desperate for customers, and have started yet another “We’re desperate for money, play for free for 21 days!!”-offer. Which I decided to pick up on, since I’ve gotten too pissed off with Heroes V to play it anymore. People used to say that the game was “just EQ in Space” which it definetly wasn’t, it was actually more of UO in Space, its strong point being the massive opportunities for character customization (both Appearancewise and “classwise”). I’ve yet to see a game which lets you define your very own character as much as old-time SWG did. The focus was on character customization and social stuff. Since I’m a rabid roleplayer, those features fit me extremely well! Old-time SWG and old-time UO are still the best MMOs to ever have been produced in my opinion.

225th Stormtrooper Company, I'm the guy in the front!

Anyhow, as I said.. it was never EQ in space, but now, after the NGE “New game Experience”(which came quite a while back, admittedly), it is most certainly World of Warcraft in Space. I must admit though once I discovered the Autotargeting and autoattack feature, the game feels a bit more playable (I’m pretty sure these features weren’t in it last time I played it post-NGE.). So I actually thought, maybe I should return to play it fulltime with my Stormtrooper character… that is, until I laid eyes on the “new” GCW-system (Galactic Civil War, i.e PvP). It is in fact, you guessed it! An almost total copy of the World of Warcraft Honour System(You know the old one, the one they scrapped because it sucked so bad…. the one I spent over 60 hours a week grinding in at a time…). So, SWG still sucks. And to top it all off, these “returning” accounts and trial accounts are subject to a Chat-limit.. I was going to do some casual roleplaying with my rodian bounty hunter, but after he cleaned his weapons through emotes, he found to his great horror that he had lost his voice when he was about to ask a shady-looking sullustan for directions to the nearest starship repair bay. “You have exceeded the chat-limit for a trial account, You must wait 7 minutes and 51 seconds before you can send another message in spatial chat”. It’s probably to counteract Credit-farmers (or Chinese gold-farmers as they’re called in SWG!!), but still…

SoE are greedy fucking pigs.

And on a more amusing note, I read in one of those Free-papers (C

ity, PunktSE, Metro etc.) newspapers today that the U.S have set up re-education camps for Iraqi children today (The whole package, with military surveillance and orange coveralls!), highly amusing! Apparently they get force-fed Harry Potter, Geography and no doubt, U.S Morals there. Which is just as well I guess, fundamentalist religious people are creepy.

SoE and the pursuit of a mythical audience
